L'Ecole, is a French word meaning ‘school’. At Lyneham Primary School, Lecole represents ecological learning ~ Lyneham Ecology Learning
Sustainability is one of three priorities in the National Curriculum. Over the past two years, Lyneham Primary’s school community has developed the school’s existing Environment Centre which reflects the Sustainability Curriculum Framework and puts Lyneham primary at the forefront of education for sustainable development (EFD).
The Lecole Centre has a green house, water tank and many raised garden beds planted with fruit plants and trees, vegetables and flowering annuals. Teachers, students and parents from our school community have been working together to develop the site located within one of the school’s main playgrounds.
Composting, reducing, recycling, reusing, repair and reclaiming is valued throughout the school community and practiced throughout each school day. A variety of resources exist within each classroom to support this learning.
